Giant Camera

This photo was taken in San Francisco off the Great Highway near the coast. The picture was taken around 1:30 in the afternoon. I really like how the only positive space in the picture is the rock and the building on top of it. I also like the organic shape of the rock in this picture. It looks like a circle, but is not quite the perfect circle.

Picturesque Setting

This photo was taken in the Kohl Mansion at Mercy High School. I took the photo around 7:45 a.m. I felt when i took the photo I had gotten the best lighting through the windows in the back. The photo has balance with one chair on either side of the table. I also like how its symmetrical and if you were to divide the picture down the middle, there would be one object on one side, and another on other side mirroring each other.

This is a photo of a model car that I have in my room. I needed something to represent myself, and since I want to become a cop after college, I figured that this was an appropriate representation of me. I took this photo in my room in the late afternoon, which is the reason for bright light in the background.

Beach Front

This photo was taken at Ocean Beach in San Francisco. It was taken midday as I was waiting for my sister to walk by since she had been participating in the Susan G. Koman for a Cure Breast Cancer walk. A lot of time to kill, a camera in hand, and a beautiful beachfront, what better place for a photo shoot? The photo was nice in color, but once I turned it into black and white I got a cool look, so I decided to go with it.

Kohl Mansion

This photo is the side of Kohl Mansion at Mercy High School. I needed to find something that represented texture, and I figured what better than bricks. Everyone knows what bricks feel like and I figured that the redness of the brick would provide a good look to the photo. It was taken around 7:30 in the morning, right before the sun provided a harsh light and was detrimental to my photo.

The Lone Rose

This photo was taken at Mercy High School in the rose garden. Our assignment was to go out and find as many elements of art around the school and photograph them. So, as usual, my friend Jon and I headed around campus looking for something that would fulfill the assignment. When we reached the rose garden, we found so many different objects that we could capture. I saw this photo in my head as soon as I saw the hedges. I noticed that there was a flower sticking out over them and that the hedges would act as a line, one of our elements of art. With a little editing in Photoshop I got my final image.

Sun Art Image

This photo is an edited version of my sun art original. The original photo was much lighter, and much bluer. The original was a class project that we did in the first week of the class. The original picture was taken by leaving a piece of film out in the sun with two or three object on top of the film. I used a thumb drive, a Rubik’s cube, and a key. This is how our class learned the concept behind the way photos were developed and how early photographers took most of their photos.

Studio Work

I had fun taking this photo. This is a formal portrait of my friend James, who's an actor at my school and he needed a headshot for an upcoming audition. I used the studio that my school set up, and with the proper lighting I got the shot I wanted. When I printed this photo out for my friend, he really liked it, and I was glad.

Color

This photo was taken to represent color and value of a photograph. I took this picture using the macro setting on my camera so my camera would focus on the flower up close. This photo was taken in the rose garden at Mercy High School and was taken around 7:30 in the morning, which provided a nice light to my background. What I really like about the photo is the brightness of the color of the flower and how it stands out. I also like how the flower is the only object in focus, and everything else is blurred out.
